Embodied is an experimental VR documentary that provides glimpses of people whose daily work is intensely physical: circus artists, performers, musicians. It allows us into the spaces they inhabit, showing the immense bodily labour they endure in contrast to the seemingly effortless way they carry their bodies. 360-degree fields of view and spatial audio create new ways of seeing and feeling close to these bodies while the interactive hand controllers demand physical attention in order to stay present and connected.
Artist Biography:
Dr. Miriam Ross is a creative arts researcher who works with new digital cinema technologies to challenge expectations of how they should be used. Her experimental films and virtual reality works have been screened internationally. She has published a range of books and articles on new cinematic technologies including 3D Cinema: Optical Illusions and Tactile Experiences (2015, Palgrave Macmillan).
